DAY CARE CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN DOBOJ-ISTOK EMPOWERS SOCIAL INCLUSION OF CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DIFFICULTIES

In March 2022, Association “HO International Forum of Solidarity – Emmaus” (MFS-EMMAUS) began implementation of activities for social inclusion of children with difficulties in development through Day Care Center for Children and Youth, that is supported by Porticus Foundation through Project “Meaningful Activism, Knowledgeable Engagement and Responsible Solutions (MAKERS) implemented by UNDP.

Project „Day Care Center for Children and Youth“ is implemented in Doboj-Istok municipality and aims to strengthen socio-psychological needs of children with difficulties in development through the organization of educational and entertaining activities and workshops.  Workshops with children organized by the MFS-EMMAUS Association within this Center are held twice a week, while parents also take an active part in the workshops.

Within the Project, group and individual sessions are also organized, where professional staff of the MFS-EMMAUS Association, made up of speech therapists, psychologists and occupational therapists provide daily support to children.

So far, children who are users of the Day Care Center have had the opportunity to visit the Zoo Garden in Tuzla, as well as the Equestrian Club “Sara” in Matuzići. In addition to numerous educational facilities, the Center in Doboj-Istok municipality provides children and parents with a place for a meaningful stay and socializing.

Besides securing a meaningful stay and education for children with developmental difficulties, the Association MFS-EMMAUS works intensively on improving social inclusion of children by ensuring active engagement of local community in developing social inclusion.

Project “Day Care Center for Children and Youth“ is implemented within the Project “Meaningful Activism, Knowledgeable Engagement and Responsible Solutions (MAKERS) that is implemented by United Nations Development Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of Porticus Foundation.
